Immaculate Conception School welcomes Korean Exchange Students, 01/11/10.
Immaculate Conception School (ICS) welcomes our six Korean visiting students to our school and to the U.S.A. This is the second time in one year that ICS has had the distinct honor of welcoming an International student (s) to the school.
Early in September, 2009, ICS welcomed Anqi (An) Zhou who relocated from Hefei, China to continue her education at a Catholic elementary school. An resides in Marlborough with her Aunt and Uncle. An is enrolled at Immaculate Conception School on a full-time basis.
ICS was selected out of many schools in the Boston Archdiocese to have the Korean students spend several weeks with American students. Mr. Yang, coordinator of the International Student Exchange Program declared, “We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to come to your exceptional school and be exposed to classes that would help our students understand and experience the American educational system”.
The main focus of this program is to provide Korean students with a global mind and to help the students experience the American culture and educational environment, and equip them to be better prepared for the future as our next generation. The students will be incorporated into the IC’s curriculum, which includes English, writing, math, social studies, science, physical education, art, computers, music, Italian, Spanish, and Religion.
On Monday, January 11, 2010, ICS welcomed six Korean students into the school. The six students are all staying with ICS “host” families. The families volunteered to have the Korean students stay with their families during this six to eight week stay.
