Mrs. Deborah Haznar
2nd Grade Teacher
I am the second grade teacher at Immaculate Conception School. I have been teaching here for 24 years and each year is always a special one for the children and me.

My objective is to create an environment that not only challenges students academically to his or her best ability but also a caring, Christian classroom atmosphere. The second grade is a challenging year for my students and a lot of skills are introduced to them. Some of the skills are study skills, memorizing, and learning through a wide variety of activities in the classroom. Other major highlights of the second grade are in the fall when the children receive Reconciliation and in the spring when they receive First Eucharist. This is truly a special time of year for me and the children.

My Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education is from Westfield State and my teaching certification is current for grades K-8 in Massachusetts. After graduation, I taught at St. Joan of Arc in Chicopee. After I married, I moved to the Marlboro area and started teaching at Immaculate Conception School. I started as the fifth grade teacher for several years then changed to the fourth grade for seven years. When an opportunity to teach second grade became available, I took it and have been teaching second grade ever since. I truly enjoy working with the younger children.

Each year I take a course from a local college or through our school workshops to stay current in my profession as well as to keep my teaching certification renewed.
Mrs. Denise Luppold
3rd Grade Teacher
Denise Luppold is a graduate of the former Boston State College, currently the University of Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She is certified to teach grades Kindergarten through grade eight. She began her teaching career in Massachusetts in the city of Everett where she was born and raised.

Denise left teaching to raise her children, now ages twenty-three and fifteen. She returned full-time to the field of education in the school year 1998 – 1999 as a Kindergarten teacher when she joined the staff at Immaculate Conception School in Marlborough. In 2002 Denise was re-assigned to teach grade three, which she thoroughly enjoys.

As a parent, Denise has strong feelings about the importance and the benefits of giving your children the gift and privilege of a Catholic education. Both of her daughters have attended Catholic schools. Her youngest, now a student at a local Catholic High School, is a graduate of I.C.S.
Lisa Trudeau
4th Grade Teacher
I am a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church.

I am a graduate of Marlboro Public Schools. I graduated from Westfield State College with a degree in Elementary Education. I have completed graduate course work through Fitchburg State and Framingham State Colleges.

In 1992, my first year at Immaculate Conception School, I provided educational support to students in grades 2-8. I have taught fourth grade since 1993.

Coincidentally, my favorite children’s book is Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume.
Mrs. Martha Mauro
5th Grade Teacher
I have been teaching at Immaculate Conception for ten years. During most of my years I taught in the Upper School for grades six, seven and eight. Most recently I have been teaching grade 4 at the Lower School.

I graduated from Worcester State College with a degree in Elementary Education, and I also received my Masters in Elementary Education from Worcester State College.
Susan Hunt
5th Grade Teacher
I graduated from Keene State College in New Hampshire. I taught at St. Bridgets in Maynard and worked in public schools in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Florida. I continue to take graduate and professional development courses; the most recent one being, "Teaching Children to Get Along" taught at the University of New England in Maine.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my years at Immaculate Conception School working with both interested and caring parents and students. I have especially found pleasure in working with, and getting to know, the many siblings of former students
Pat Newell
Lower School Secretary
I came to Immaculate Conception School in 1987, the same year that Mrs. McCook became Principal. I was Librarian for ten years. Even though I enjoyed that position, I became the secretary when the Convent School opened in 1997. Given that I have an Associate’s degree in Accounting, this was a good move for me. When Mrs. Bartley retired, I moved to the lower school where I just love what I do.

My husband and I have lived in Marlborough since 1978. We have four children; two girls and two boys. We also have five grandchildren and another on the way. We also have a great grandson. We love living in Massachusetts as our children and grandchildren all live within one hour of us. We gather almost every month to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or to just enjoy the evening playing cards. I love to knit, make crossword puzzles, sudokus, and jigsaws. My husband and I almost always attend out grandchildren’s sport games.
