Faculty and Staff of The Middle School

Mrs. Linda Short
Principal   principal@icschool.net

I have been at Immaculate Conception School since 1986. I graduated from Salem State College with a Bachelor of Science degree. I was named Principal in August 2014. I am an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish and serve as a Eucharistic minister.

My three children are graduates of Immaculate Conception, and presently, I have two grandsons who attend the school. My children also continued with Catholic education in high school and college. The education they received here gave them an excellent foundation.

In my spare time, I enjoy watching my four oldest grandsons participate in a variety of sporting events. It won’t be long before my fifth grandson joins in the activities.

Mrs. Denise Shipp
Grade 6 Homeroom
Middle School Math Teacher (Gr 5-8)   dshipp@icschool.net

After an 18 year career as a Software Engineer, I began substitute teaching in all grade levels and subject areas. It didn’t take me long to realize that Mathematics was my favorite subject to teach. I’ve always loved Math and it’s everywhere, no matter what career you choose. I have a B.A. in Mathematics from Assumption College, and a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from WPI. I often tell my students that teaching is my “second career”, but I truly believe I have finally found what I was meant to do!

On a personal note, I enjoy reading, watching reality TV, visiting Disney World, and spending time with family and friends.

Miss Lauren Bailey

I am excited be teaching at the ICMS for my third year! I am the Science Teacher for Grades 5 through 8. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Health, focusing on water.

In my spare time, I enjoy being outside, rooting for Boston sports teams, attending concerts and plays, and playing board games.

Ms. Nicole Cormier
Language Arts / Literature – Grades 6-8 ncormier@icschool.net

I began my journey to becoming an educator in 2009, when I went back to school. After graduating in 2012 from Quinsigamond Community College with an AD in General Studies, I pursued my bachelor’s degree at Clark University. While studying English Literature, I felt the strong vocation to teach. I worked with my professors to design my course of study around teaching middle and secondary literature and writing. In December 2015, I graduated from Clark University and received a BA magna cum laude in English.

Through much prayer and hard work, I was fortunate enough to land here at ICS. Currently, I am pursuing the degree of Master of Education with Secondary English Certification, at Worcester State University. School is NEVER out for me!

My interests include family activities with my three sons (ages 16, 14, and 10), reading, writing, furniture restoration, gardening, art history, films, sports, cooking, and traveling. My favorite book (and film) is Gone With the Wind (students always ask this, and I keep a copy on my desk). I am excited and honored to be part of the ICS Family. I hope to foster a love of learning in my students, and look forward to watching them grow and succeed.

Mrs. Cheryl Ryan
Middle School – Grade 7 Homeroom
Social Studies – Grades 5 to 8  cryan@icschool.net

I have been teaching at Immaculate Conception School for more than 25 years and have had a Grade 7 homeroom for most of that time. A product of Catholic school education, I am a proud graduate of Immaculate Conception and Hudson Catholic High, as well as a life-long parishioner. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Secondary Education from Framingham State University. I continue my education by taking graduate level courses in History, Social Studies, and Education. I hold two Massachusetts State certifications in History 5-9, and History 9-12.

I love teaching Middle School age students because they are both inquisitive and enthusiastic learners. I believe that learning Social Studies enables students to become informed, effective global citizens of the twenty-first century.

Mrs. Gilda Villani
Spanish Teacher
Grades Pre-School through 8    gvillani@icschool.net

I am from Italy, I came to the US fifteen years ago, I learned English and studied Spanish at Worcester State University before I raised my family. I have five children, ranging from 14 to 8 years old.
Now that my children are more independent and I have more time, I decided to teach. I love languages and I want to share this love with my students. I hope that they will come to enjoy Spanish, I hope that they will gain more confidence in learning a new language. I will continue with Mrs. Kellett’s curriculum and make changes as needed along the way.

I have a “Laurea in Economia e Commercio” ( Master Degree in Economics ), while I was getting my degree in Italy, I tutored elementary and middle school students on various subjects. After I came to the US, I was a part time teacher, I am certified to teach Italian.
I am very excited to teach Spanish for many years to come.
